Join April for a deeply restorative, somatic yoga practice that incorporates slow rhythmic, and repetitive movements with the breath to connect your brain to your body and create new neural pathways in your brain, releasing held tension and trauma in muscles and fascia or connective tissue.

About the event
We mindfully link the breath to the movements and take moments of stillness to allow for the nervous system to remain in a parasympathetic state of rest and ease. We include pandiculations, also known as activations, of our muscles when we take brief pauses at the beginning and end of the movements to remind muscles that have been overworked or underused how to engage or relax. This can be done by squeezing and tensing the muscles in your hands, arms, thighs, glutes… or pressing into the ground to activate muscular energy.
Myofascial Release
Part of the somatic practice is myofascial release which releases tension in connective tissues or fascia in your body. We can perform this type of body work on ourselves using a tennis bal or yoga block, applying gentle to moderate constant pressure or rolling on areas of the body that are holding knots of tension or trigger points.
